Shopping Vintage: Week 3

Here I bring you all your vintage delights with exquisite finds and unique discoveries spanning across the Etsy vintage stores. Although I missed last week's blog, I hope this one makes up for it with these three beautiful, unique shops. Their products are perfect for sprucing up your home for spring or finding that new spring outfit!

The first shop is Salt&Ginger. Adorable with capturing photos, you can only smile as you browse through her lovely sections of home decor that spans different styles. Salt&Ginger offers mid century, post-Depression, Hollywood Regency and more in choice of products. Here are some of the organizations she works with: "SitStayRead: a literacy program for inner city school kids,  PAWS Chicago: an animal shelter foster mom of dreams, and KEEN: a recreational activities for disabled kiddos. This last shop is a must for every vintage shopper. Andolina'sWishes is a beautiful shop that holds an array of vintage jewelry, handbags, decor and more. When browsing through the sections, you find multiple choices and feel as if you are in a physical vintage shop. The products are of great quality, and each picture captures the item's life and quality.

On etsy.com, one finds a market filled with makers of unique, beautiful handmade items. From jewelry to socks, you can find anything you are looking for! Each seller has an unique shop and style and presents it to the community with pride. Here are a three handmade shops I stumbled upon this last week. A New Act, A New Hope

As a vintage shop, we want to provide the most unique and beautiful items to our customers. We also want to do more than just sell vintage which is why we donate 10% of every purchase to G.E.M.S, Girls Educational Mentoring Service. This organization was founded in New York City in 1998 by Rachel Lloyd who as a teenager was commercially sexually exploited. 

G.E.M.S strives to make known the issues of domestic trafficking and sexual exploitation in New York and the states. They are committed to ending sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking of women and children by changing individual lives, transforming public perception, and revolutionizing the systems and policies that impact sexually exploited youth. A great step toward this goal was taken yesterday with the renewing of an political act. 

President Obama signing act. 

It was a day of excitement and celebration as a new act was signed by President Obama, The Violence Against Women Act. This act was originally put forth in 1994 but in 2011 fell by the wayside and was not renewed until yesterday. This act empowers victims of sexual and domestic violence across the United States. It gives them rights in the law as well as access to programs and victim assistant services. 

This is the beginning of a long road towards empowering victims of domestic and sexual violence and to one day end sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking in the United States.

Shopping Vintage: Week 2

The rain has come to our high desert area, and we now await the spring weather to follow. When you shop in thrift stores and antique shops, you want to find the item that hooks you. You want to fall in love with something that will look amazing on your shelf or fantastic on you for that night on the town. 

Although you may not get to take in the aroma of antique shelving or feel the 1950's dress, Etsy vintage sellers offer an array of choices for the vintage shopper to choose from. From clothing to home decor, a store can carry items that you would never find on your own! Below are three stores we discovered and love. The first store goes by the name Photos Past. Their love of vintage and antique items is displayed through their diversity and care in the products they post. From Provence in southern France, Cab Art Vintage finds their items at flea markets and love doing it. In her about, the owner states how her four loves are her husband, her two golden retrievers, painting, and flea markets filled with treasures.
